Day 1
Arrive in Johannesburg where you will enjoy an overnight stay at the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo before catching your flight the following morning to Greater Kruger.
Day 2 - 4
Arrive in Greater Kruger and transfer to the luxurious private game Lodge Chitwa Chitwa where you will enjoy a 3 night stay. This stunning accommodation is lavish yet true to the region’s heritage of nature and wildlife. Beyond this resort’s luxurious quarters, Chitwa Chitwa offers the most spectacular safari experience, where intrepid explorers can get a glimpse of the Big Five.
Day 5 - 6
Depart Greater Kruger and fly to Cape Town, South Africa’s mother city. Enjoy a 2 night stay in a mountain-facing room at the lavish Victoria and Alfred hotel, situated on the bustling V&A Waterfront in the heart of Cape Town. Spend your days taking in the best of what Cape Town has to offer with complimentary passes to key attractions, including the Cape Town City Tour, Table Mountain Cableway, Peninsular Tour and Wineland Tour.
Day 7
Check out of your hotel and make your way to the port, where you will board the luxurious Azamara Pursuit and begin your 12 night All Inclusive cruise.
Day 8
Relax on your first day at sea onboard the Azamara Pursuit. Spend the day lounging by the pool, pampering yourself with an indulging spa treatment, delight your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants, or enjoy some of the onboard entertainment.
Day 9
The first stop on your cruise adventure is Port Elizabeth. This city is referred to as “The Friendly City” and is home to stunning beaches and the densest population of elephants in the world. Featuring a pedestrianised central zone, galleries selling local artworks, mouth-watering South African fusion food restaurants, award-winning buildings that house museums, and restored Victorian terraces, there is plenty for guests to explore. The marine life in the bay is also sensational, with plenty of dolphins and whales that can be spotted throughout the year.
Day 10
Next dock at East London, a city situated between the Buffalo and Nahoon rivers on the south-eastern coast of South Africa. Known as “The Buffalo City” this city bridges the Wild and Sunshine Coasts’ world-famous beaches and acts as a gateway to the vast inland wild savannah. There is a very laidback vibe, thanks to the large numbers of surfers and beach lovers drawn by the excellent combination of sand and surf on offer.
Day 11
The next day is another day at sea onboard the Azamara Pursuit. Spend the day lounging by the pool, pampering yourself with an indulging spa treatment, delight your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants, or enjoy some of the onboard entertainment.
Day 12
The next stop is Maputo, Mozambique’s capital and cosmopolitan centre. This city is truly magical with its Mediterranean-style architecture, beachfront setting and wide avenues lined with gorgeous jacaranda and flame trees. Explore this city’s bustling markets, lively cultural scene and wide selections of restaurants and sidewalk cafes.
Day 13
Dock at Richards Bay, a quaint welcoming town situated on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Known as the official gateway to Zululand, this town has transformed from being a small fishing village into a lively harbour town. Guests can appreciate the beautiful wetland scenery in addition to the untouched beaches and game reserves. Be sure to visit Dumazulu, the only Zulu village opened up to tourism by King Goodwill Zwelithini and the only authentic example of Zulu traditions which tourists are allowed into.
Day 14
The next stop is Durban. This city is regarded as “the Asian Capital of South Africa” and is the biggest city in KwaZulu-Natal. Here guests will experience the vibrant waterfront, complete with street performers and sand artists and an easy going laid back lifestyle. The city has always been a beach city but the huge investment for the 2010 World Cup really put it on the map. The massive revamp of the promenade brought about mouth-watering cafes and restaurants serving a variety of dishes including bobotie (a sweet spiced mince dish with egg toping).
Day 15 - 16
Spend the next two days recharging onboard the Azamara Pursuit. Spend the day lounging by the pool, pampering yourself with an indulging spa treatment, delight your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants, or enjoy some of the onboard entertainment.
Day 17
Dock at Mossel Bay. This harbour town is a true treasure found on South Africa’s Garden Route, with one of the world’s most pleasant climates. Bounded by lush natural beauty, it’s beloved for its beachy atmosphere and renowned for its connection to early human life. Those looking to relax should head to the golden sandy coast which stretches for more than 60km. This city is also drenched in history, so be sure to visit the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex which centres on modern history, the exploits of Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dia, who landed and named the bay in 1488 while searching for India.
Day 18
Arrive back in Cape Town, disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
