place DAY 1 - Arrival Beijing

Upon arrival in Beijing a private guide will meet you at the baggage hall, transfer from the airport to your hotel, where you can relax or explore your local surroundings.

Walk in the steps of emperors in the Forbidden City. Completed in 1420, it was home to 24 emperors - the last one left a hundred years ago, in 1924. The imperial complex is said to have 9,999 rooms and, at its peak, housed up to 10,000 people. This included the imperial family and 3,000 eunuchs. Stroll through its 170 acres - once forbidden to common people - and enjoy some of the best-preserved classical Chinese architecture in the world. Afterwards, visit the Mutianyu Great Wall - a scenic section of the Great Wall of China - and soak up its natural beauty.

After breakfast, transfer to the train station and take a first-class train to Xi'an.

Explore the legacy of the Army of Terracotta Warriors and visit the recently discovered burial site. Pass by the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang and visit the Warriors who stand guard over his tomb. In the afternoon, climb the ancient City Wall to enjoy a panoramic view.  

place DAY 5 - Xi'an- Chengdu

Visit the big Goose Pagoda, which is situated in the Da Ci'en Temple - the best-preserved Buddhist temple in Xi’an. It is one of the most ancient landmarks in the city. Afterwards, take a high-speed train to Chengdu.

Get back to nature with a trip to the Chengdu Panda Base. Witness the beauty and charm of giant pandas in their natural environment, while learning about the important work of panda conservation. Travel on to Wuhou Shrine - a historical site dedicated to Zhuge Liang, a celebrated strategist of the Three Kingdoms. The shrine is surrounded by beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. Afterwards, take a stroll through People's Park in Chengdu. It offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling urban environment with its beautiful gardens and serene lakes.

After breakfast, take a transfer to the train station and a high-speed train to Chongqing, where you will be transported to the Yangtze River Cruise Terminal.

You will arrive in Zhongxian in the early afternoon to visit the Shibaozhai - a hill along the bank of the Yangtze River. Witness the majestic and delicate wooden tower, which was first built in Wanli reign of Ming Dynasty. In the evening enjoy the Captain's Welcome Party.

By morning the ship will have reached the impressive Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge, so have your camera ready. After lunch, there’s chance to explore the Shennv Stream by boat before it’s time to reboard the ship and cruise down the western section of Xiling Gorge.

Take a bullet train to Shanghai, where you can explore Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydro-electric project.

A private guide will show you Shanghai’s best cultural highlights with a tour of Yuyuan Garden, Longhua Temple, Tianzifang’s bustling artistic neighbourhood and Xintiandi’s commercial district.

Relax in your hotel, explore the rest of the ancient city or spend time discovering modern Shanghai. Travel up the Shanghai Tower, the highest structure in China and take in the spectacular cityscape views. Visit the Shanghai Municipal History Museum and spend time wandering the Bund, the city’s bustling waterfront area.

Transfer to Shanghai Airport for your departure.
