place DAY 1 - Colombo

Colombo

Upon arrival at Colombo airport, meet your guide and transfer to Negombo. Check into your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to relax after the flight and prepare to begin your journey through Sri Lanka.

place DAYS 2 - 3 - Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for Anuradhapura. Check into your hotel, relax and unwind.

The following day explore Anuradhapura, the ancient, ruined city and visit the Mihintale Temple which is considered to be the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Attractions include the sacred Bo Tree, temples, Brazen Place and Samadhi Buddha. Travel to Mihintale, a rock dotted with shrines and dwellings and a grand stairway of 1840 steps that leads to a summit with a splendid view of the countryside.

place DAY 4 - Cultural Triangle

Cultural Triangle

Take an excursion to Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa this morning. Sigiriya, also known as the Lion's Rock, is possibly Sri Lanka’s most iconic site; the ruins of this rock fortress are popular for the ancient paintings and is one of seven World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. The climb of Sigiriya takes approximately an hour and consists of 1200 easy steps and is best done in the morning or late afternoon, avoiding the strong heat of midday. The second most ancient of Sri Lankas kingdoms, Polonnaruwa, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in the country.

place DAYS 5 - 6 - Trincomalee

Trincomalee

After breakfast, leave for the northeast coast of the island to travel to Trincomalee, spend some time sightseeing Trinco town and fort and visit the Konesvaram Temple, Lovers Leap and the hot springs. Check in to the hotel and relax and unwind on the beaches of Kuchchaveli.

place DAYS 7 - 9 - Pasikuda

Pasikuda

Travel down to Pasikuda, south of Trincomalee. Spend three nights at the Uga Bay hotel which is located on one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful stretches of beach. This area is excellent for diving and plentiful with water sports and outdoor activities. A highlight of Uga Bay is their unique underground spa with its stunning sea views, the perfect place from which to enjoy a therapeutic massage.

place DAY 10 - Kandy

Kandy

Today, travel back in-land to the city of Kandy. On route, visit Dambulla, an ancient cave complex. The Dambulla Cave Temples are the largest and best-preserved rock cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, towering 160 metres over the surrounding plains and encompassing more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. The site is of particular interest for anyone that loves historic art, as five of the caves contain ancient statues and paintings related to and depicting Lord Buddha and his life.

On arrival in Kandy, enjoy some sightseeing of the town, visiting the lake and the Temple of the Tooth, a sacred relic and one of the cities main attractions. Go on to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, the largest of the botanical gardens of Sri Lanka and one of the finest of its kind in Asia.

place DAYS 11 - 12 - Hatton

Hatton

Set off today to journey into Sri Lanka’s beautiful tea growing region. Stop at a working tea factory and estate to learn more about this vital trade that is embedded in the country’s history and culture. Spend two nights staying at Uga Halloowella. This boutique, all-inclusive property newly opens in December 2024 as the latest edition in the wonderful Uga collection. Choose to hike the Pekoe Trail, cycle through the mist covered hills and valleys, or take to the calming waters of Castlereagh Reservoir by kayak.

place DAYS 13 - 14 - Colombo

Colombo

Travel back to Colombo to spend a final evening in the city before departing for home the following day. Perhaps enjoy some last-minute shopping, take in the city sights, and visit one of Colombo’s many delicious restaurants for your evening meal. Your accommodation for the last night of this wonderful trip is Galle Face Hotel, the grand dame of Sri Lanka’s colonial-era heritage properties.
